Can we talk about Maxxie ... or Mitch? You know: that peroxide topped stack of teenage sex-appeal that makes me feel bad about myself because I'm in my twenties and he's younger than my little brother?
Okay, I'll be on the level; I don't feel that bad. The reality is I feel pretty good about how bad I feel. The fact that Mitch makes me feel bad about feeling good when he swaggers across the screen like some kind of primal beast with very, very, very bad things on his mind -- I see that as a very good thing. I assume this is the response, he, the writers and his director intended. Dilated pupils, elevated heart rate, sweat, engorged va-... never mind.
How does this fit in with music or style? Style: didn't see it. Too focused on large expanses of bare skin. Music: my thoughts on blondie were excellently portrayed by my girl Hannibal Sketch-face, but, were it not for the sublime placement of Aqualung's "Good Times" track, sending ripples of creepy euphoria up my spine (pretty much has the same effect as a psychotropic drug or ... muscle contractions), that scene would've been missing the stroke of genius that made the opening of Series 2, Episode 2 of Skins brilliant enough to blow me away.
No thanks to Osama.
