   Abi Thommes has been playing music since about the age of seven. She was classically trained on the piano, flute and voice until she left school at the age of 18. At school her main instrument was the flute in which she was awarded a scholarship but her main focus and passion was always song-writing and sitting down at a piano and singing her songs live. As a young girl she was always listening to music and she adored West End musicals. She wrote her first song when she was twelve; influenced by her singing teacher who brought her and three friends to a recording studio to each record their song. From then on Abi progressed as a musician and songwriter. Abi accompanies herself on the piano and more recently the guitar: ‘Accompanying myself is so great as I can totally let go and be free in my playing. If I want to slow down I can, I just let the music take me where it wants to go.’ Abi grew up in the countryside, growing up slowly and staying a child for a long time. Family life was and is very important to Abi: ‘My Family are the best; always so supportive of everything I do and always want me to follow my dreams!’ She is currently living in London, soaking up the music scene, playing gigs, going to gigs and constantly writing new music. ‘London is such a contrast to what I have always been used to, but I love it, I love being busy, I love being in a busy place. Everything is just so exciting.’
